Wore my Granny Square Coat again today to a VW Show at BODELWYDDAN Castle......
got stopped again lol.
I will definitely be making another one for next winter and thought the MINI HEX might be an option....still thinking though.
Crumbs!!....I need a hair cut.
joined the mini hex's with a grey Aran weight....my favourite weight yarn and a 5mm hook.
Not sure if I want to make the next coat with a navy or black though.
But I quite like the mini hex..colour without too much colour.
Happy Hooking
Oh! I love it! I keep pinning pictures of Granny square coats with all intentions of making one but still have not gotten there yet! I think I will make creating one a summer project ( of many! ) when school gets out! This way it will be done in time for Fall wearing!
ReplyDeleteThanks it certainly gets commented on and so often people want to chat about crochet too...love that. Look forward to seeing you in your coat don't forget to show us all.

ReplyDeleteHi I got the comment in my mail thanks for the input, yes a agree a hex is a better 'shaper' motif than a square.

I think the mini hex would be perfect for a coat. Similar enough that it will be the same showstopper, but different enough that they don't appear the same. And I think it would be a great shape to experiment with fit (because it's got a sort of curve opposed to the straight square shape of the grannies)
ReplyDeleteI think so too....will try a few possibles before making my mind up though.

So you wore your lovely granny square coat! I can imagine that you would be stopped! You are probably doing what others would like to do, but haven't dared! Have you seen Cate Blanchett in her giant granny-square dress? I actually didn't like her colour scheme, you could give her a few tips in colour coordination!
ReplyDeletehehe...certainly a show stopped hehe
DeleteThay have used GS for so many projects not all work though lol

I love that coat and the colours you've used are great. I like the idea of using navy in the next coat, I wear a lot of navy. I really like that it's unique and a real statement piece :)
ReplyDeleteHi thanks....I agree a dark one, navy or Black as a back ground colour is definitely one to add to the list.
DeleteWe could do a CAL hey? lol

oooh! just had a thought what about a royal navy ? or a teal Blue?....I can see a wardrobe full of them HEHEHEE!
DeleteVery beautiful your coat, wishes Armi from Finland
ReplyDeleteThanks I certainly wear it a lot

You look great in that amazing coat. I think hexagons would be great especially if you did not use half hexagon's to created a straight border, the wave the hexagon makes would create a lot of fun at the front opening of the sweater.
ReplyDeleteDoes that make any sense at all?

Meredith

Lovely coat. Didn't know there was a VW show at BW. We usually go to the classic car show. We went this year and had the usual windy but good weather.
ReplyDeleteHi...thanks, got stopped several times at the show, yes its been going for a bit I'm sure, been a couple of times.
