CROCHET: Interlocking block stitch and a moss st border......

MOSS STITCH BORDER...A requested tutorial

A simple but effective stitch for great colourful borders

MOSS STITCH AS A BORDER
use a different colour for every round

US Terms in black with UK Terms in brackets in red
Tweed, stripes and spots

This stitch can be done in a tweed look..different colour every round.
 As a stripe in two colours used alternately used.
Or used to make spots by using the spot colour every third row in a back ground of one colour

Basic Moss Stitch
Round 1: start in a corner, sc, [dc], ch3, sc [dc], in the corner sp, miss a st, sc [dc], in the next st, ch 1, miss a st, repeat to end of row, repeat corner sc [dc],  ch3, sc [dc], continue to repeat side and corner stitches, to end sl st to complete cut off and weave in ends

Round 2: change colour and repeat round 1

  1. Thank you for your response about the moss stitch border. As soon as I finish weaving in my ends for the block stitch afghan,I will use your instructions. One question. Do I put a sc foundation row before I start? Again,THANKS for your input.

    1. Hi Darius, you're welcome, no need for the sc foundation not hen you are adding the moss st to your afghan thats if you start the moss stitch from scratch have fun
